Main Purpose
Social media is changing the way people find, consume and react to information. The MSF mission to Pakistan is moving towards a reinforcement of its digital media capacities to be able to connect with the increasing number of Pakistanis on social media, build an online community of supporters and better communicate on MSF’s projects in the country.
Job Description
Content creation:
· Create, edit and publish content on MSF Pakistan’s social media channels, ensuring content not only reflects MSF’s mission and values in-line with the communications strategy, but is also optimized for the audience and distribution channels
· Travel to MSF projects to identify stories and produce digital content
· Under the guidance of the FCM, produce stories and content for an international audience and/or for leverage purposes
· Build and coordinate a network of ‘social media ambassadors’ from the projects
· Coordinate translations and subtitles related to social media content
· Suggests innovations for content creation and audience growth for MSF Pakistan social media accounts, in collaboration with MSF social media and ‘webbies’ groups
Community building/management:
· Builds and manages the Pakistani (local and diaspora) online audience
· Manages the communities of MSF Pakistan social media accounts, including interacting with followers through replying to comments and questions, ensuring MSF’s values and reputation are upheld
· Identifies key social media influencers (in Pakistan and among the diaspora) suitable to MSF’s principles, making sure the lists are regularly updated. Proactively suggests influencer engagement tactics to help MSF operationally.
· Promotes the Facebook and Twitter profiles internally and externally
· Working with Communications and HR, encourages MSF staff to adhere to the social media guidelines and travels to projects to support digital ambassadors making sure that the guidelines are properly understood and followed.
· Provides support for trainings on social media for MSF staff
Strategy:
· Develops and implements strategies for the growth of social media audiences, including through the use of local influencers
· Implementation of the social media strategy of MSF in Pakistan, in line with the overall country communications strategy designed and implemented by the FCM
· Design and coordinate paid social media campaigns under the guidance of FCM and Digital Adviser
Monitoring and reporting:
· Undertakes daily monitoring of (traditional) local media (radio, television and newspapers) and translate/transcribe relevant publications into English
· Undertakes daily monitoring of MSF social media channels and of key topics on social media platforms, responding to problematic content in collaboration with the FCM and suggesting strategies to manage appropriately
· Provides regular written updates on social media activities and outputs as part of a wider communications reporting structure
· Gathers data to measure and inform the constant improvement of MSF Pakistan’s digital presence
· Gathers data on content performance to share with the mission
· Supports communications crisis management as required, in particular with monitoring of social media
Miscellaneous:
· Act as back-up for the FCM during field visits and holidays
· Assists with the organization of conferences and other communications events, and their coverage on digital/social media
