MSF OCB is looking for a Health Promotion IEC Officer to implement Health Promotion/IEC (Information, Education, Communication) activities with patients and the local population to raise their knowledge and skills on relevant medical topics.

Accountabilities

• Inform patients and communities about MSF and the services it provides.
• Deliver information to patients and the community on specific health topics according to medical priorities.
• Implement health education and awareness activities (sessions in schools, churches, community), under the guidance and supervision of the HP Supervisor.
• Assess the impact of activities (with questions, verifications, and behavior observations), report problems, successes, and constraints to the HP Supervisor.
• Collect all types of information related to specific health and living conditions of the population, particularly to identify the most vulnerable populations to target.
• Report to HP Supervisor: activities, problems encountered, strengths, and constraints.
• Establish and maintain contacts with social partners, including other NGOs and governmental health services that can provide answers to social problems.
• Keep education and communication areas clean and tidy and ensure professional materials are available.
• Participate in the creation of any material needed for information, education, and communication activities.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

• Project activities will focus on strengthening Tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis and care in Kaemari District to reduce the TB burden in the community.

In addition to the aforementioned accountabilities, the position holder will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Raise awareness about TB and MSF–Government services through various channels.
• Mobilize communities for mobile clinics and organize sample collection.
• Organize patient flow, pre-triage, and MUAC screening in the Mobile camp.
• Establish and maintain a community-based referral system within the assigned area.
• Conduct case finding, contact tracing, and screening in the community.
• Follow up on patients’ treatment adherence via phone, home visits, home assessment, and clinic support.
• Identify contacts of TB patients and support them with preventive treatment (TPT) as appropriate.
• Support and accompany patients transferred to other medical facilities when needed.
• Ensure referral of presumptive or confirmed TB patients to appropriate health facilities.
• Build relationships with community influencers (religious leaders, teachers, social activists, local associations) and local health workers (MoH community health workers, lady health workers, polio workers) to maximize outreach, awareness, and patient support.
• Work polyvalently in the community and clinic as needed.
• Carry out additional tasks assigned by the supervisor, demonstrating a proactive and collaborative approach.

Requirements

• Education level in social science, social communication, nursing, or teaching.
• Internal MSF training on health messages is necessary.

Experience

• Preferably previous experience in teaching, nursing, or social work, community mobilization (for OCBA, at least two years).
• Previous experience within MSF will be considered an asset.

Languages

• Full working proficiency required in Urdu and English.
• Knowledge of Pashto is considered an additional asset.
